TRACE

By Louise Breckon-Richards

Trace is a new play by Louise Breckon-Richards. It follows the interlinking stories of nine characters, bound together by experiences of loss, grief and dementia. The play traverses two worlds; the world of reality and a strange in-between world. The characters cross and collide, journeying between these worlds in a search for love, life, family and memory.

Directed by Alice Fitzgerald and produced by Lexi Clare, Trace underwent a two-week R&D process in May 2019, supported by Arts Council England. As part of the workshop process, the created team was supported by leading experts in dementia research and palliative care, who offered advice and guidance on the depiction of this condition.

The R&D cast was comprised of Nadia Albina, Beatriz Romilly, Natasha Bain, Saul Marron, Amanda Shodeko, Dudley Rogers and James Given. Movement director Steve Kirkham and sound designer Anna Clock were also part of the R&D team, exploring the physical and aural language of the play.
